Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

    SALEE: Study of Applied Linguistics and English Education is an international, peer-reviewed journal publishing quality, original research. Please see the journal's Aims & Scope for information about its focus.

    Please note that this journal only publishes manuscripts in English.

    SALEE: Study of Applied Linguistics and English Education accepts the following types of articles: Research articles, Conceptual/state-of-the-art articles, Book review articles

  2. Peer Review and Ethics

    SALEE: Study of Applied Linguistics and English Education is committed to peer-review integrity and upholding the highest review standards. Once your paper has been assessed for suitability by the editor, it will be blind peer-reviewed by independent, anonymous expert referees. If you have shared an earlier version of your Author’s Original Manuscript on a preprint server, please be aware that anonymity cannot be guaranteed.

  3. Preparing Your Paper

    Structure

    Your paper should be compiled in the following order:

    1. Abstract and keywords

    2. Introduction

    a. Narrowing the issue from global to specific.

    b. Novelty of the study

    c. Stating research contribution or an effort to fill the gap, solutions, and implications for the field of ELT.  

    3. Theoretical/conceptual review

    Highlighting theories or concepts being adopted in the study clearly and briefly.

    4. Methodology

    a. Clearly stating the design of the research

    b. Providing detailed procedure of data collection and analysis.

    5. Finding and discussions

    Elaborating findings critically and relating them to previous studies.

    6. Conclusion

    a. Stating the limitation of the study

    b. Providing suggestions for future researcher.

    7. References

    Following current APA style.

    a. Citing works from peer-reviewed journals

    b. At least 20 references and 90% from international peer-reviewed journals

    8. Acknowledgement (If any)

    9. Appendices (If any)

    Submission Format

    Authors may submit their papers in any scholarly format or layout. Manuscripts may be supplied as single files in Word or rich text format (RTF). Figures and tables can be placed within the text or submitted as separate documents. Figures should be of sufficient resolution to enable refereeing.

    aArticles submitted to the Journal should be 4,000-9,000 words containing the whole content, including table(s) and references. All manuscripts must follow the template and author guidelines.
    b. All authors of a manuscript should include their full name and affiliation on the cover page of the manuscript. One author will need to be identified as the corresponding author, with their email address normally displayed in the article PDF (depending on the journal) and the online article. Authors’ affiliations are the affiliations where the research was conducted. If any named co-authors move affiliation during the peer-review process, the new affiliation can be given as a footnote. Please note that no changes to affiliation can be made after your paper is accepted. 
    c. The title should be concise, brief, capitalized, and centered.
    d. The abstract is written around 150 to 200 words. Below the abstract, about three to five keywords should appear ordered alphabetically.
    e. The Journal operates a peer review process and promotes blind reviewing. To facilitate this process, the author’s name (without academic titles), institutional affiliations, and the corresponding author's email address should appear only on a Manuscript with a details File.
    f. Articles should be written in English using Microsoft Word.
    g. Block citation should be 1 cm indented. 
    h. Use only horizontal lines when using tables. Put the table number and the table's title on top of it.
    i. Use only a maximum of ten images/figures in the manuscript. 
    j. If submitting your manuscript as a Word document, please ensure that equations are editable.
    k. Every source cited in the body of the article should appear in the reference, and all sources appearing in the reference should be cited in the body of the article.
    l. The sources cited should have at least 90% come from international peer-reviewed journals. The sources cited are primary sources in the form of journal articles, books, and research reports, including theses and dissertations. 
    m. Spelling can be US or UK English so long as the usage is consistent.
    n. Orcid ID and Author's profile (short bio around 50-60 words) are included at the end of the manuscript.

    Using Third-Party Material

    You must obtain the necessary permission to reuse third-party material in your article. The use of short extracts of text and some other types of material is usually permitted, on a limited basis, for criticism and review without securing formal permission. Suppose you wish to include any material in your paper for which you do not hold copyright and which is not covered by this informal agreement. In that case, you will need to obtain written permission from the copyright owner before submission.

    This journal uses Online Journal System (OJS) to manage the peer-review process. If you haven't submitted a paper to this journal before, you must create an account on the journal website. Please read the guidelines above and then submit your manuscript.
