Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to this journal (SALEE: Study of Applied Linguistics and English Education) must follow Focus and Scope and Author Guidelines of this journal. The submitted manuscript to this journal must be written in English. The manuscript must not have been published or submitted for publication elsewhere.  All submitted manuscripts must be free from plagiarism content. All authors are suggested to use plagiarism detection software to do the similarity checking (please use Turnitin to check the similarity). Editors will also check the similarity of manuscripts in this journal by using Turnitin software.

The submitted manuscripts to this journal will be peer-reviewed by at least 2 (two) or more expert reviewers from Peer Reviewers Team. The reviewers give scientific valuable comments improving the contents of the manuscript. The review process used in this journal is a double-blind review system. 3-4 (three to four) weeks will be needed for reviewers to complete one round of the reviewing process.

The final decision of manuscript acceptance is solely made by the Editor in Chief according to the reviewer's critical comments. But if the related article is deemed inappropriate from the start, the related article will be rejected immediately without a review process by the editor. The final decision of the manuscript is solely based on the Editor's final review which considers peer reviewers' comments (but not solely by the Reviewer).

Publication of accepted articles including assigning the article to the published issue will be made by the Editor in Chief by considering the sequence of accepted dates. The average manuscript turnaround time of the serial publication from submission to publish is 4 month.

STEP 1

  1. Check if there is a manuscript submission on the website
  2. If available, download the original file and supplementary file (usually consists of appendixes)
  3. The original file is forwarded to the admin secretary for Turnitin application (plagiarism check).

STEP 2

  1. Checking the quality of the manuscript content (based on the SALEE: Study of Applied Linguistics and English Education manuscript template guide for authors)
  2. Checking the percentage of plagiarism of the manuscript by the admin secretary.
  3. Establishing a checklist for pre-review whether the manuscript is in accordance with the manuscript template for authors
  4. Send the pre-review back to the author for revision along with a request for a cover page (if none), tables, and images in jpg/jpeg format with HD quality for layout needs.  Note: if overdue, remind the author daily
  5. If the author has submitted revisions, the editorial team can decide whether to accept, reject, or revise the manuscript again before forwarding it to the reviewers.

STEP 3

  1. SECTION EDITOR looks for reviewers. The SECTION EDITOR usually already has their own reviewers, but if the SECTION EDITOR has difficulty choosing reviewers, journal has provided some list of reviewers along with their expertise.
  2. Reviewers must consist of at least two reviewers.
  3. After the review process is complete, SECTION EDITOR sends the manuscript back to the author for revision (make sure to wait until 2 reviewers have finished reviewing).
  4. Make sure the reviewer has completed the review form from SECTION EDITOR because this form will be used to submit data on the website and a list of reviewers for the archive.
  5. After the manuscript has been revised by the author, SECTION EDITOR checks if it is completely revised based on reviewers comments and suggestions.

STEP 4

  1. EDITOR forwards the manuscript to the editorial team to be decided through an internal meeting and based on the reviewer's consideration whether it is suitable for publication, needs further revision or is completely rejected.
  2. If the manuscript needs to be revised again, it will be sent to the author for further revisions.

STEP 5

  1. Accepted manuscripts will be final edited by the copyeditor
  2. Manuscripts are proofread by professional proof-readers and then sent back to the author for revision
  3. After that, the manuscript goes through the process of layout based on SALEE: Study of Applied Linguistics and English Education publication standards, galley changes to PDF files, and creating reference links within the PDF contents

STEP 6

A final check is done by the author and EDITOR-IN-CHIEF to double-check the manuscript before publication

STEP 7

If the manuscript does not require revision, it will be published in the upcoming volume and issue.
