Publication Ethics
TANJAK (Journal of Education and Teaching) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity in all stages of the publication process. The journal applies a double-blind peer-review system to ensure the quality, originality, and objectivity of published articles.
The publication ethics of TANJAK are based on internationally recognized principles of scholarly publishing, including the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). This ethical statement applies to all parties involved in the publication process, including the Editor-in-Chief, editors, reviewers, authors, and journal management team.
Ethical Responsibilities of Editors
1. Publication Decisions
The Editor-in-Chief and editorial board are responsible for making decisions regarding the acceptance, revision, or rejection of submitted manuscripts. Editorial decisions are based on the manuscript’s academic quality, originality, relevance to the journal’s scope, and contribution to the development of knowledge.
Editors must ensure that all decisions comply with publication ethics, applicable laws, and journal policies, including regulations related to plagiarism, copyright infringement, and research integrity.
2. Fair and Objective Evaluation
Editors evaluate manuscripts based on their intellectual content without discrimination based on religion, ethnicity, nationality, gender, institutional affiliation, political background, or other personal characteristics.
3. Confidentiality
Editors and editorial staff must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and may only disclose information related to manuscripts to authors, reviewers, potential reviewers, editorial board members, and other authorized parties involved in the publication process.
4. Conflict of Interest
Editors must not use unpublished information from submitted manuscripts for personal research or professional advantage without written permission from the authors.
Editors must withdraw from handling manuscripts when there is any conflict of interest arising from competitive, collaborative, personal, or institutional relationships with the authors or affiliated organizations.
5. Handling Ethical Issues and Complaints
Editors are responsible for responding appropriately to ethical concerns, complaints, and allegations related to submitted or published manuscripts. Investigations may involve communication with authors, reviewers, institutions, or relevant research organizations.
When necessary, TANJAK will publish corrections, retractions, expressions of concern, or other appropriate notices to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.
Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers
1. Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Reviewers assist editors in evaluating manuscripts through constructive feedback and objective assessments. Peer review supports the quality improvement of manuscripts and contributes to the integrity of scholarly communication.
2. Timeliness
Reviewers who are unable to complete a review within the assigned timeframe or who feel unqualified to evaluate a manuscript must promptly notify the editor.
3. Confidentiality
All manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. Reviewers must not share, discuss, or disclose manuscript information with others without permission from the editor.
4. Objectivity and Constructive Feedback
Reviews must be conducted objectively and professionally. Personal criticism of authors is unacceptable. Reviewers should provide clear evaluations supported by academic arguments and relevant evidence.
5. Recognition of Sources and Plagiarism Detection
Reviewers should identify relevant published works that have not been cited by the authors. Reviewers must inform editors of any substantial similarity, overlap, or potential plagiarism between the reviewed manuscript and other published works.
6. Conflict of Interest
Reviewers must refuse to review manuscripts if they have conflicts of interest due to personal, professional, competitive, collaborative, or institutional relationships with the authors or related organizations.
Ethical Responsibilities of Authors
1. Originality and Research Integrity
Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts represent original research and contain accurate, reliable, and valid information. Manuscripts must not include fabricated, falsified, or misleading data.
2. Access to Research Data
Authors may be required to provide research data, supporting materials, or additional information for verification purposes. Authors should maintain research data for a reasonable period after publication.
3. Plagiarism and Originality
Authors must ensure that their manuscripts are free from plagiarism, including direct copying, inappropriate paraphrasing, duplicate publication, and self-plagiarism.
All sources, ideas, statements, and findings from other researchers must be properly acknowledged through appropriate citations and references.
4. Multiple Submission and Duplicate Publication
Authors must not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously. Submitting manuscripts to multiple journals or publishing substantially similar works in different journals is considered unethical behavior.
5. Proper Citation and Acknowledgment
Authors must appropriately acknowledge all sources that have contributed to the development of their research. Information obtained privately through communication, correspondence, or discussion may only be used with permission from the source.
6. Authorship and Contribution
Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, implementation, analysis, or interpretation of the research.
All listed authors must approve the final version of the manuscript and agree to its submission for publication.
7. Correction and Retraction of Published Articles
If authors discover significant errors or inaccuracies in their published articles, they must immediately notify the journal editor and cooperate in correcting or retracting the article when necessary.
If the editor receives credible information regarding errors in a published article, the journal will work with the authors to investigate and determine appropriate corrective actions.
Commitment to Publication Integrity
TANJAK is committed to ensuring responsible scholarly communication through transparency, rigorous peer review, ethical editorial practices, and continuous improvement in accordance with international publication standards.
